Wouxun KG-UV950P review - Part 4 - FM Broadcast settings

Wouxun KG-UV950P transceiver.
Once again when running the KG-UV905P 2.5K programming software if you click the FM Broadcast Memories tab you see this.

FM Broadcast Memories tab with a few
frequencies I have programmed.

The rig is capable of tuning broadcast FM radio channels on VFO A only. On the FM Broadcast Memories tab there is the ability of programming up to 20 channels with your favourite FM frequencies between 76MHz and 108MHz FM only.

To active the FM-RADIO mode you need to press MENU-0-4-8-MENU and then turn the rotary encoder to display ON and press MENU again.

If there is already a transmission being received on the VFO you can't change to FM mode. IN this case tune to an empty frequency with the squelch on and you will be able to select FM broadcast.

Then when you want to select a stored channel you press the #LOCK button. CALCH 01 is displayed. Rotating the encoder to CALCH 04 and pressing MENU will recall the stored channel.
I have found that you need to select to this tab and press Write to programme the FM channels to the radio. If you are on any other tab and pressing "Write" the radio takes no notice of any changes you may have made on this tab. Strange behaviour.

When listening to a broadcast radio channel you can use the rotary encoder of up/down keys on the tune the frequency in 0.1MHz  steps. Scanning is NOT possible on the FM broadcast frequencies.

If you have VFO B active and a signal is received the FM broadcast is muted. If you want to have uninterrupted listening of the FM broadcast press key "8TOR" and VFO B will be switched off. The rig will display WOUXUN on the right hand side of the control panel.

Stereo reception is NOT possible on the FM broadcast mode but the sound quality is reasonable through the internal speakers and can be very good through external speakers but definitely not hifi quality. To exit this mode simple press the EXIT button and you will be back to whatever you had set before.
